Action Purified recombinant form of human thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). Route Onset Peak Duration IM Immediate 5 mins–4 hrs 48 hrs Adverse reactions CNS: cerebrovascular accident , dizziness, fatigue, headache, hemiparesis, hemiplegia, hypaesthesia, paraesthesia. CV: myocardialinfarction , atrialarrhythmia . ENT: laryngeal oedema . Eye: loss of vision. GI: diarrhoea, loss of taste, nausea , vomiting. Metabolic: hypercholesterolaemia, hyper­ thyrodism, hypothyroidism, hyepertriglycer­ idaemia, raised serum uric level. Musculoskeletal: arthralgia, myalgia, asth­ enia. Psychiatric: anxiety, insomnia, mood dis­ turbance. Respiratory: dyspnoea, respiratory dis­ tress , stridor . Skin: flushing, pruritus, rash, sweating, urticaria. Other: anaphylaxis , asthenia, chills, fever, flu-like syndrome, hypersensitivity reaction, malaise. Interactions None reported. Contraindications None reported. • Monitor vital signs following procedure. • Ensure safety if the person is light-headed. Patient teaching • Advise person to report any adverse effects. • Advise person to take care when standing up or getting out of bed due to potential dizziness. care considerations • Monitor thyroid function.

• Store reconstituted solution at 2–8 ° C and use within 12 hours of preparation. • Individuals should be requested to fast overnight or to have only a light breakfast on the morning of the procedure. • Monitor vital signs and renal function closely following procedure. • Ensure safety if the person is light-headed. Patient teaching • Encourage person to void after the pro­ cedure and regularly thereafter. • Advise person to drink fluids regularly. • Advise person to report any adverse effects. • Advise person to take care when standing up or getting out of bed due to potential dizziness. • Instruct women who are breastfeeding to discontinue breastfeeding for at least 24 hours and substitute with formula or expressedbreastmilkpriortotheprocedure.

IV ADMINISTRATION: Reconstitute 1 vial with 1.2 mL of Sterile Water for Injection. After reconstitution, the thyrotrophin alfa concentration is 0.9 mg/mL.
