Decoration Techniques
PP PAD PRINT
Pad Printing – An inked image is transferred from a photo-etched plate to a thick, soft, silicone pad, which is then pressed against the product. One Pantone colour is printed at a time, and suitable for most designs with tight registration. Screen Printing – The direct imprinting of a design onto the surface of a product. Image is pressed through tensioned nylon mesh, leaving a paint-like appearance. Sharper imprint than pad printing. Available on a select range of products. Laser Engraving – A permanent decoration technique. Light burns an image into a substrate. Works best when the item’s surface is a different colour than the substrate. Debossing / Embossing – Techniques in which a metal die is created from artwork. The die is then heat-pressed onto the material, leaving an image of the artwork in recess (Debossing) or a 3D effect (Embossing) as the impression is raised. Metal products are embossed by stamping the material with the die. Epoxy Dome – A thick clear polyurethane coating applied directly to a decorated product. Embroidery – A traditional method of decorating textiles with needle and coloured thread. Available for some plush items indent.
4 Colour Process (4CP)
Digital Direct Print – Photo quality images and graphics printed directly onto a broad range of products using specialist inkjet printers, producing spectacular results. Four colour process (CMYK) artwork required - white ink is laid down as a 5th colour if needed. Digital Standard Label – A laser printer reproduces the image in CMYK onto pre- cut gloss White paper labels. Labels are hand applied. Die cutting is available on vinyl deluxe labels. Digital Transfer Print – Suitable for detailed and multicolour imprints. A computer printer uses special inks to create CMYK transfers designed to be applied to products using heat. Digital Sublimation Print – A technique using specialist inkjet printer that transfers a CMYK image directly onto materials using heat.
