Ricky Recorder Issue No 39
well and Miss Berridge and Mr Shiels who helped make the night a success. Have a great summer.
Song and Dance
Our annual spectacular hit a high note at the end of term with more than 100 students showcasing the exceptional talents that Rickmansworth has to offer.
Mr J Waters, Head of Dance
The Rickmansworth School Summer Concert was hosted by Acting Head of Faculty Mr Tompkins and Music Teacher Mr Shiels, complete with their ever popular witticisms. This year the wonderful Mrs Curtis compèred the evening and despite a few misplaced puns (compliments of Mr Tompkins) she was a fantastic addition to the concert. “These things can always seem like a stress: last minute rehearsals, limited time frame, and not to mention the clash with the NUT strike this year! But in the end it is always worth it and truly is one of the best parts of my job” - Mr Tompkins The concert saw the first performance from the Folk Choir whose singing we look forward to hearing more of in the future. It was also Jack Dawkins’ last performance at the School, which gave the department an opportunity to thank him for his fantastic contribution to music over the last seven years, not to mention giving us all the chance to enjoy his playing along with the rest of big band. We wish Jack all the best for the future and look forward to the next concert in the autumn! Sam Pugh, Year 11
Performers from all years took the audience on a journey from commercial dance acts, solo singers, ballet and tap right the way through to big band numbers and beyond. All topped off with a special performance by the staff band and the staff dance group 'Ricky Dance Crew’.
A huge thank you to parents, friends and family for supporting the Performing Arts at Rickmansworth and for the backstage crew as
