President’s Message

A s I write this message, it is the end of another, one of many, rainy weekends here at Greystone. The last several week- ends have provided limited golf and tennis play. I’m sure most of you are like me and are ready for better weather and hopefully many weekends where we can enjoy the facilities Greystone has to offer. Despite the unfavorable weather, our Greystone committees have gotten off to a great start working on many improvements centered around membership growth, retention and engagement. I want to thank all of our committee chairs and members for their commitment to making Greystone great. Greystone has provided several great events for members to enjoy thus far in 2018. Comedy Night, the Wild Game Dinner and Valentine’s Dinner have been well attended and the feedback on these events has been very positive. In addition, our Chef’s Dinners, Sunday Brunches and Cellar 91 dining have gotten off to a great start. Our new dinner menu and family favorites has been well received. Our board and management are listening to the members and we will continue making adjustments during the year as a result of member feedback. The spring season includes some of Greystone’s best events. Easter is just around the corner and our annual Easter Egg Hunt is a member favorite. I am certain Chef Alan has a very special menu planned for our Easter Brunch. The Greystone Member Guest is upcoming and thanks to our staff and the GMGA, this event is recognized as the premier-member guest in our area. The Women’s SEC Championship will be returning to the Legacy Course for the fourth time with a weekend completion televised by ESPN. The tournament and television schedule will be sent to members in advance. We encourage you to come out and watch some fantastic golf played by ladies you will soon see on the LPGA Tour.

Just around the corner is the Regions Tradition. Last year Greystone made $450,000 on this tournament and we expect to do even better in 2018. Our new Regions Tradition Committee is working closely with the PGA Tour to roll out great member packages for our members. This year’s packages will be on an “opt in” basis, so we encourage you to take advantage of these packages for your family and guests.

This is one of the premier events on the PGA Tour Champions schedule and the players love competing in front of the tremen- dous crowds we have for this tournament. In addition, we will have some great after round parties on the patio that you will not want to miss. If you are a business owner or in sales, please take a look at the various sponsor opportunities available to entertain your clients and prospects. I want to take a moment to thank the great staff at Greystone for all they do to create a great member experience. We recently had a dinner to recognize several of our staff for their years of service to our club. There were four celebrating five years, three at ten, one at fifteen and one at twenty. We have a similar numbers each year which shows Greystone is a great place to work. This is also a testament to how our members treat our staff. I would be remiss if I did not take time to welcome our new Food & Beverage Manager, John Onsa, to Greystone. If you haven’t met John, please reach out to him. He is a great addition to our management team and if you have been dining at Cellar 91, I’m sure you’ve seen the positive impact he is having on the service. In closing, one of my commitments to the members this year is to have regular communication on the financial position of our club. Please stay tuned as we will be giving an update at the end of the first quarter. Please take advantage of all the upcoming opportunities to use and enjoy your club. Together we can make 2018 the best year ever at Greystone! Lane Milam Club President, 2018
