Get Your Pretense On!

52 • Get Your Pretense On!

• The first shall be last, and the last shall become first, Mark 9.35. • The grace of Jesus is perfected in your weakness, not in your strength, 2 Cor. 12.9. • God’s highest sacrifice is contrition and brokenness, Ps.51.17. • It is better to give to others than to receive from them, Acts 20.35. • Give away all you have in order to obtain God’s best, Luke 6.38. Conclusion When you look at the Story of God and fly-over kingdom truth, you begin to see how God is reversing the effects of sin and Satan to reestablish God’s sovereign purpose in the world. The petition of the Lord’s prayer is the heart cry of the universe: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt. 6.10). God does whatever he pleases (Ps. 135.6), and his counsels and plans stand forever, to all generations (Ps. 33.11; 115.3). If we intend to live the way God sees things, to really get our pretense on, we will need to see God as the central actor in the unfolding drama of life. He is on a mission to recover everything that was lost at the beginning of time. The issue is not God’s plan for your life; rather, it has always been “will you fulfill your part in the great plan of God to reverse the rebellion of Satan’s infernal rebellion and humankind’s tragic fall?” God is reversing all things to the way they are supposed to be. Accept your call to get your pretense on, embrace the risen Lord as King, and join God’s great adventure of reversal by laying it all down for Christ and his Kingdom.
