COURSE DESCRIPTION 2012 2013

Trial Evidence and Techniques

Mr. Dino M. Colucci,

2 credits day; 2 credits evening.

Trial Evidence and Technique is a dynamic and concentrated course that scrutinizes both the anatomy and nuance of a trial. Because the enrollment is strictly limited to 24 students, each participant can expect to gain practical skills and experience throughout the semester in an authentic courtroom setting. The course culminates in a mock trial whereby each student works with other members of his or her ―firm‖ in strategizing a theme of the case, conducting motions in limine, delivering opening statements, introducing and objecting to evidence, eliciting trial testimony, interposing objections, marshaling facts, engaging in closing argument and ultimately persuading a jury. Half of the student‘s grade is derived from class attendance and participation while the remaining 50% comes from the student‘s performance at the semester-end mock trial. The final grade will be based on class participation (50%) and the mock trial (50%)

Prerequisite: Evidence; Enrollment is limited to those who have not taken a Trial Practice or Trial Advocacy courses.
