Carl Reed joined the USD staff in July, 2000 in the new position of Director of the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Reed comes to USD from Cal Berkeley where he held the title of Assistant Events Manager for two years. A graduate of Saint Mary ' s Coll ege (B.A. in Politics, '96; M.A. in Sports Administration, ' 99), Reed also held athletic department positions at Saint Mary 's College and with the West Coast Conference.

John Martin has been a member of the USD athletic staff since 1975. He was the school's first head women's volleyba ll coach, a post he held through the 1989 season, and a lso oversaw the Recreation Department. As volleyball coach, he directed theToreros to three postseason ap– pearances, including a 4th place finish at the 1976 AJAW Nationals. As Director of Athletic Faci liti es, Martin

Besides overseeing all home athletic events, Reed wi ll help oversee the day-to-day operations, management and marketing of the building to help attract outside events like concerts, trade-shows, etc. Carl resides in La Mesa, Californi a. Academic Support Coordinator Shaney Fink begins her first year as US D's Academic S uppo rt Coordi nator. She takes over for Mik e Ma toso, w ho moves into the newl y crea ted pos iti on of Compli– ance Coord ina tor. This past year she was on the Torero vol– leyba ll coaching staff as a first year assistant, helping the Toreros to a 23-6 record and sec– ond round fini sh in the NCAA Tournament.

Mike Matoso is in hi s second season as USD 's Compli ance Coordinator, and third year with the USD staff. During the 1999-00 sea– son he was the Academic Support Coordina– tor. Rachel Guerra Athletic Ticket Manager Rache l Guerra beg ins her first year as USD's Athl et ic T icket Manager at the JCP. Guerra comes to US D from the San Diego Padres organi zation where she worked in the ticket o ffi ce since 1998. Pri or to working with the Padres organi zati on, she worked for ABC Entertainment in Century Ci ty as Coordinator of Accounti ng Services, and at KUSI-TV 51 in San Diego as a Feed Editor. She earned her B.A. degree in Speech Communi acti ons from Ca l State Uni versity at Ful lerton in 1995.
