Wire line launched ❍ The new Fuhr copper wire line in action at Düsseldorf At wire Düsseldorf 2010, Fuhr GmbH & Co KG took the opportunity to introduce its latest development for the production of high-precision rectangular copper wire. wires (such as CTC) or copper flat wire, such as PV ribbon (interconnect wire and bus bar). Marking with security

In general, applications for CTC cables are windings in transformers, motors and generators. Furthermore, high- precision rectangular copper wires with small cross-sections are being used for high-efficiency hybrid motors and wind generators. With the emergence of CTC cable and its related applications, the required tolerances for these rec- tangular wires have been reduced to ±0.005–0.010mm, which cannot be achieved with traditional cold rolling technology. Fuhr’s contemporary layout of its wire rolling machines offers a rolling mill capable of processing copper round wires into a wide range of rectangular and flat shapes, achieving width to thickness ratios of up to 40:1. Paul Leibinger GmbH presented its latest product at wire 2010: a com- bination of camera system and inkjet printer to control printed information. Designed as a plug- and-play solution, the verification system is installed and connected to the Leibinger JET3 inkjet printer. During production the control and monitoring of the JETvisio is made directly on the touch screen of the JET3. The fully automatic visual moni- toring system JETvisio guarantees highest reliability of product marking and prevents the production of defective goods. Leibinger software ensures perfect coordination between the camera and the printer. Its largest-ever booth (over 1,000ft 2 ) allowed Fuhr to display an entire rolling mill, capable of processing copper wire, in real-time, from round to rectangular wire. The end result is said to have tolerances of ±0.005mm with excellent surface quality and material properties. The company reports that a large number of visitors came to watch the operational capability of the machines and to view the quality of the final product. Featuring a combination of a horizontal spooler (payoff), a two-high rolling machine (WSR-type), two edge-rolling devices (WSE), two Universal Turks Head (WST) rolling machines, as well as two combined dancers, three Vollmer measurement systems and an oscillating spooler, this very compact rolling mill is thought ideally geared towards the production of high-precision rectangular copper
