With 40 years experience and ISO 9001 certification, Dong Fang Electrotechnical Machinery (Dofama) Co Ltd, PR China, designs and manufactures equipment for the wire and cable industry. The company’s machinery, combined with good service, has earned it over 2,000 Chinese and overseas clients. Today, the company’s portfolio includes a wide range of copper and aluminium rod continuous casting rolling lines, scrap copper continuous casting rolling lines, and aluminium- magnesium-silicon continuous casting rolling lines. A number of products have Chinese patents, as well as new product development awards. Dofama has recently launched a new Automatic Hydraulic Drawbench. Machinery for wire and cable

OTA technology from Ernst Koch GmbH & Co KG has a harmonious future. Twenty-five OTA machines have been supplied since the introduction of this new speed control technology. The OTA lines work without tuner and dancer rolls and thus ensure a linear wire passing from the first drawing block up to the spooler. The process is said to guarantee an end product of particularly high quality, especially suited for the production of high-quality wire products such as spring steel wires and music wire. Commented managing directors, Jochen Koch and Thomas Voss, “With the OTA speed control technology we’ve managed the balancing act between improving the productivity of our drawing machines by means of higher drawing speeds and longer operation times of the drawing dies on the one hand and achieving better quality results on the other hand.” 100% tensile testing for specialist alloys Alloy Wire International Ltd, manufacturer of precision cold drawn round wire, flat wire and shaped wire in a range of materials that includes high performance nickel, cobalt and titanium alloys, is using a PC-controlled universal materials testing machine from Lloyd Instruments as part of its quality assurance procedure. Every coil of wire is subject to tensile testing prior to dispatch. Tensile tests are performed using a Lloyd Instruments EZ50 50 kN twin column universal materials testing machine equipped with NEXYGEN™ MT control and data analysis software. NEXYGEN™ MT features a comprehensive library of international standard tests for many different applications, including EN, BS and ASTM standards, however the system can also be configured to carry out user specified tests. Tests can be carried out on material both before and after heat treatment. Alloy Wire International’s quality manager, Peter Lambe, said: “Our focus is on the production of comparatively small quantities of material with fast turn-round, manufactured to customer specification, so testing and certification of every coil is a vital part of the quality process. “As well as tensile testing, we can also perform bend tests, elongation, torsion tests, wrap tests and proof stress tests as part of the certification, if required.” Lloyd Instruments Ltd – UK Fax : +44 1489 885118 Email : suzanne.sharpe@ametek.co.uk Website : www.lloyd-instruments.com Drawing technology with a musical quality

The OTA lines are available in different sizes and models, and are suited for the processing of low and high carbon steel wires as well as of stainless materials. Additional advantages of the OTA machines are the vast drawing speeds and a design that is compact, user-friendly and easy to maintain. Ernst Koch GmbH & Co KG – Germany Fax : +49 2372 985 167
