Strander works at speed The monobitorsion strander, based on a Cortinovis Machinery Patent, is a high performance strander that combines the advantages of the single and double twist stranding – the high quality of single twist with the high speed of the double twist. Its production range starts from 7 wires up to 61 wires unilay compacted or compressed strands, with sections from 16 to 300mm 2 . It can handle aluminium, aluminium alloy and copper wires with continuous pay off from stem packs with automatic changeover or, if required, pay off from bobbins. The tension of the wires is equalised in simple and efficient multiple pneumatic brakes, making it possible to set up wire tension for each layer or for each wire. A stationary die stand accommodates up to 61 wires, with 2, 3 or 4 lay plates and 1, 2 or 3 rotating driven or idle dies. There is also the option of a rotating unit with 2, 3 or 4 pairs of compacting rollers. The rotating capstan, driven by an AC motor fitted in the rotating frame, makes and precisely compacts the strand with its final lay and geometric size. Every capstan turn gives one lay in the strand, as obtained with the single twist process. Double twist take up, that receives the strand already made in its final size and lay, transfers it to the bobbin without giving any stress or variation in lay and diameter. This is due to a patented system of driven rotating joints, at inlet and outlet of the bows. On the bow the strand is guided with idle dies that help to stabilise the strand. The double twist take up includes the bobbin holding cradle, with feeding capstan, traversing device, deviation pulleys and pneumatic pintles.

SpliceRite™ Ultrasonic Wire Splicer took centre stage on the Sonobond Ultrasonics stand at May’s Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo in Milwaukee, USA.

SpliceRite is designed to create perfect solid-state metallurgical bonds using the lowest possible voltage drop and minimum energy consumption. The unit eliminates the need for clipping, soldering, crimping, or dipping, quickly splicing wire bundles without producing arcs, sparks, or fumes, or melting the wires and can accommodate tinned or heavily oxidized wires. The unit features a microprocessor controller that can store and recall up to 250 jobs by height, by energy, or by time while producing welds.

Ultrasonic welding is environmentally friendly, produces no waste, and is economical to use. Sonobond Ultrasonics – USA Fax : +1 610 692 0674 Email : info@sonobondultrasonics.com Website : www.sonobondultrasonics.com SpliceRite™ Ultrasonic Wire Splicer m m
