ACTIVE ADULT TRIP: Drive Through History - Van Tour of the New River Trail (South End) Want to experience the New River Trail State Park in a way only a few people get a chance to? Join us on a guided van tour to learn more about the New River, railroad history of the area, and the local flora and fauna. The tour follows the trail that was once the rail line of the Norfolk and Western railroad. There will be stops along the way for restroom use and lunch. A picnic lunch will be provided. ACTIVE ADULT TRIP: North Carolina Zoo & Botanical Gardens The North Carolina Zoo is a perfect outdoor destination. Come with us for a fun day and make memories to last a lifetime! From critically endangered vultures and gorillas in Africa to rare native plants and amphibians from North Carolina, the North Carolina Zoo has been the leader in wildlife conservation for more than two decades. This is the world’s largest natural habitat zoo. It’s a really big place! With roughly five miles of walking trails to navigate, make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a refillable water bottle. Tram service is available throughout the zoo.
