PRESENTERS

THIERRY DELATOUR, Nestle

Dr. Delatour is a Lead Scientist at Nestlé Research Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland where he specializes in response in analytical chemistry to emerging issues and crises. Prior to this, he was a Group Leader at Nestlé Research Centre where he managed a team of experts dedicated to the development of analytical methods in the Quality & Safety Department. These methods have been implemented in R&D Centre, PTC and NQAC. Dr. Delatour obtained his Ph.D. from Centre d’Etudes Nucléaires de Grenoble in France, a Master of Advanced Studies at Université Joseph Fourier, and an Engineer in Chemistry Degree at Institut de Chimie et Physique Industrielles.

CHRISTOPHER SMITH, The Coca-Cola Company

Dr. Smith is a manager in the quality area at the corporate laboratory of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, GA. In his group they employ a wide range of analytical techniques such as ICP-MS, UHPLC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, isotope ratio MS and NMR. Dr. Smith has been with The Coca-Cola Company for 8 years, with prior positions at Brown & Williamson and also at the CDC in Atlanta. He has authored over 30 publications on diverse topics such as atomic physics, mass spectrometry, agricultural residue analysis and biomonitoring/toxicology. Dr. Smith received his B.S. in Chemistry from Drake University and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder. His postdoctoral work was performed at Iowa State University.

PETRA WISSENBURG, Food Safety External Affairs & Strategic Projects Director, Danone Group

Petra Wissenburg is a Dutch citizen and graduated in chemistry from VU University in Amsterdam and earned a PhD in physical chemistry from Leiden University in the Netherlands. From 1993 to 2003 she held various positions in Research & Development in Unilever in the Netherlands, Brazil and the United Kingdom and worked from 2003 to 2005 as Leadership Consultant with The McLane Group, United Kingdom. In 2005 she joined Numico B.V. (acquired in 2007 by Danone) as Head of Quality at Nutricia Liverpool, United Kingdom. In 2011 she became Corporate Quality Projects Director and since 2014she holds the position of Food Safety External Affairs & Strategic Projects Director within the Food Safety@Danone organisation. Petra is currently based in Singapore. Petra represents Danone in various global food safety and food industry organizations. She is a member of the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) Guidance Document Technical Working Group that advises the GFSI Board on the development and upcoming revision of the GFSI Guidance Document; she is a board member of SSAFE, a non-profit organization of leading global manufacturers working on precompetitive issues for the food and drink industry; Petra also led the GFSI sponsored Food Fraud Think Tank composed of leading experts from both industry and academia. She represents Danone in FIA (Food Industry Asia) where she is a member of the Science & Technical Committee, Public Affairs Committee and various working groups under both committees.
