Grosse Île and Grande Entrée

These islands contain the best preserved natural environments on the Îles de la Madeleine. The Pointe de l'Est National Wildlife Area connects the two islands to one another. In the same area, you can find Brion Island and Rocher aux Oiseaux (Bird Rock), which are two uninhabited islands located off the coast of Grosse Île (see Wildlife Reserves p. 102). The Anglophone inhabitants of Grosse Île and the Francophone inhabitants of Grande Entrée are mainly fishermen and fish plant workers.
