APICS CERTIFICATION BASICS OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT Half-day exam to obtain the APICS Certification, an internationally- recognized endorsement of knowledge of the concepts behind the “extended enterprise” (physical, financial and information flows), demand planning (customer expectations, markets concerned, value definition), demand satisfaction (design, management and control of transformation process) and sourcing in distribution (supply of products and services supplier to customer).

OBJECTIVES • Acquire, enhance or check Supply Chain Management knowledge (from long-term planning to customer delivery and managing returns, including purchasing, production, stocking, transport and distribution) • Take away the terminology and basic knowledge recognised in businesses all over the world. • Be familiar with the 4 Supply Chain flows, different improvement approaches (Theory of Constraints, Just-in-Time, lean management) and the implications of Supply Chain for the extended enterprise model • Gain a “big picture” of business in order to optimise its activities PARTICIPANTS Supply Chain professionals in various fields: demand management, calculating requirements, sourcing, sequencing, launching, stocking, transport, distribution, managing returns etc. Functions in direct contact with the Supply Chain: marketing, sales, purchasing, production, after-sales ser- vice, IT, finance. Tier-1 suppliers and customers needing a better understanding of the impact of time and capacities on the service to be expected.

PROGRAMME

Prerequisites

The programmme covers 10 sessions in the following fields: • Introduction to Supply Chain Management • Demand management • Master-planning • Calculating Net Requirements • Managing capacities and running a workshop • Aggregated stock management • Detailed stock management • Purchasing and physical distribution • Total Quality and the Theory of Constraints • Just-in-Time and Lean Management

• Prepared remotely using books and e-Learning modules: 3 months’ work

Organization

• 1 day • E-Learning course and exam • 15 participants

The 3-hour exam involves answering 105multiple-choice questions.
