BASIC PROJECT MANAGEMENT: COUNTDOWN® Countdown®: a strategy game for project teams places learners in a simulated project environment where they experience the tools, concepts, processes and behaviors of successful project teams. At the conclusion of the simulation a Project Success Model pulls all these elements together and helps learners assess a project’s ultimate success.

OBJECTIVES

As a result of participating in Countdown, learners will be able to: contribute to the construction and use of project management tools, including work breakdown structures, Gantt charts and more · use appropriate behaviors in communicating within the team, with sponsors and organizational stakeholders · clarify project objectives with sponsors and stakeholders throughout the project’s life cycle to ensure business value · deal more confidently with project obstacles such as scope creep, stakeholder resistance, sponsor changes, resource allocation challenges and more · work more effectively and constructively with the project manager and other members of the project team

PROGRAMME

Countdown®: A Strategy Game for Project Teams A project management training simulation that enhances the knowledge and skills of managers, project managers and project team members. Developed in collaboration with project management experts, Countdown uses a variety of discovery learning techniques to engage and energize learners as they explore the concepts, tools and behaviors of effective project management. Participants will learn: the key processes of project management · how to manage the triple contraints of time, cost, and requirements · approaches to project risk evaluation and contingency planning · use of standard project management tools such as the Gantt chart, work breakdown structure, and responsibility matrix · effective team responses to scope creep and changing sponsor expectations · important team behaviors for managing and controlling a project · managing a project’s critical path · how to evaluate project success
