Spatial dose parameters

DVHs are useful to represent a dose distribution, but mechanisms of radiation damage may relate to spatial features of the dose distribution. Buettner et al:

• 61-Gy isodose >59% of circumference related to late rectal bleeding

• 23-Gy isodose > 109% of rectal length related to loose stools
