Discovering Brazil

Parking It is generally not safe to park on the streets in Brazil. Breaking into cars and the subsequent theft of belongings is a significant problem in certain places, including São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Whenever possible, a vehicle should be parked in a secure apartment or office building parking lot. When finding parking on the street, it is a common practice for locals to help the driver find a parking place nearby and then guard the vehicle. They expect to be paid, sometimes in advance, a few Reals for this service and it’s an unofficial yet valuable source of income for many. It is self-regulating and generally trustworthy. Rudeness or indicating no intention to pay could result in damage occurring to the vehicle. Parking Fees Each city has its own parking rules and regulations so be sure to read the driving section in your city guide to better understand the parking specifics of your city. Generally, follow the rules posted on signs across the country as they will often be similar in all locations. Also, ask your Dwellworks Consultant for local tips and suggestions to navigate complicated parking.
