CBA to Host World City Bar Leaders Conference

The Association will be hosting the 2018 World City Bar Leaders Conference on September 26-29 at the CBA Building. Members of the World City Bar Leaders include bar association presidents from the world’s largest city bar associations including: London, Paris, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Frankfurt, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, Warsaw, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia. The world’s largest city bar associations share many common concerns, such as judicial independence, access to justice, public education about the law and the justice system, the impact of technol- ogy on the law and our court system, etc. We are planning a number of member events during the September WCBL conference, which will give members an opportunity to meet the visiting bar presi- dents. Look for more information about the upcoming WCBL conference on the Association’s website, weekly e-bulletin and CBA Record. CBA Participates in Gamaliel’s Fiesta del Sol’s Community Programming The Association was proud to participate in Gamaliel’s Fiesta del Sol’s Community Ser- vice Programming. In addition to provid- ing volunteer lawyers who consulted with people about immigration and expunge- ment of criminal records, the Association’s Second Vice-President Maryam Ahmad scripted and videotaped three educational videos in English and Spanish about the expungement process. A big thanks to Maryam and Jorge Montes for their assis- tance and to CBA’s New Media Director Ricardo Islas for producing these public service videos. The videotapes were shown to attendees at the expungement program which was held on Saturday, July 28, at Benito Juarez Academy. Congratulations: Congratulations to our new Associate Judges: Judge Charles S. Beach, Judge Joel D. Buikema, Judge Jeffery G. Chrones,
