A view of the Buffelspoort dam

Buffelspoort Dam is an arch type of dam in the Sterkstroom River, a tributary of the Crocodile River, North West Province, South Africa. Its main purpose is for irrigation use and it is owned by the Department of Water Affairs. The dam was opened in 1937. A large part of this area is being conserved by the Buffelspoort Valley and Hartbeesfontein conservancies.This is one of the few dams in the region relatively unpolluted. MOUNTAIN SANCTUARY PARK This stunning nature reserve is situated approx. 90 km from Pretoria and 110 km from Jhb in the Maanhaarand area of the Magaliesberg range. This protected refuge for wildlife offers many hiking opportunities throughout the reserve. Apart from the landscapes and water features, the rock formations are a sight to behold. This reserve is ideal for the family. All types of accommodation are available.
