LIGHTING THE LOFTUS PARK PRECINCT

T he recently developed Loftus Park precinct, situated in the heart of Pretoria next to the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, includes top grade offices, a gym, hotel and open piazza area with restaurants and a big screen for live events. Regent Lighting Solutions (RLS) and Pienaar & Erwee electrical engineers supplied the lighting for the open- air piazza and for all the parking areas. The brief was to provide warm and welcoming light that accentuated the landscape and architecture, while meeting the desired light levels in each of the designated areas. With cost efficiency being a top priority, the Rhoda Post Top (48 W LED, 4000 K) and Thia Bollard (4000 K, 15 W LED) were selected for the exterior parking areas. The STREAMLIGHT INTRODUCES NEW MULTI-BRANDED COLLECTION E stablished in 1995, Streamlight is a premium lighting solutions company that specialises in lighting layout designs and supplies exclusive, quality lighting for corporate, residential and hospitality spaces. With its world-class showroom in the Design District in Kramerville – the company offers a sophisticated playground showcasing lighting brands and designers from all over the world. In the heart of the Streamlight showroom, visitors look forward into a fresh, urban and original lifestyle concept, DARK. The latest in design and lifestyle – the multi-labelled, eclectic DARK takes visitors all over the world with brands such as Pig & Hen, Leff Amsterdam, Craft Cartel, Simon & Mary, and exclusive artwork by Regardt Van Der Meulen. Says Brad Kalish, product designer at Stream- light: “DARK gives South African creatives a space where they can showcase the latest in African and international street trends. We took our collective knowledge of European trends and created a more cost-effective lighting range that is just as impres- sive as any Italian or Spanish design collection. We integrated both international and local street brands to create the lifestyle concept store”. An extravagant and well-supported launch for the range was held in September at the company’s showroom.

Rhoda Post Top was mounted on a double curved galva- nised pole at 3 m and 5 m heights, while the Thia Bollard was also supplied, without a light source, as a pedestrian bollard for the walkways surrounding the parking area. For the open-air piazza, the following fittings were used: • Brite 130 in-ground, 12 W LED, 15°, with colour changing RGBW and DMX controller. • Brite 100 in-ground, 8 W LED, 10°, 3000 K. • Tula 1 wall mounted 4000 K LED (IP65). • Tula 2 wall mounted 4000 K LED (IP65). RLS also supplied the Shuttle T/M Black 18 W LED, 3000 K for the project.
