Micah’s programs

JOYCE In 2017 we were able to assist 30 residents living at Showalter Center and the Kroontje Health Care Center with the cost of their housing, meals and nursing services. Joyce is one of those seniors and she tells us she is extremely grateful to have a safe place like Showalter to live where the nurses take such good care of her. Micah’s Soup for Seniors in partnership with St. Michael’s Lutheran Church and Micah’s Garden have become life sustaining programs for seniors on our campus. Our programs help 100 residents with shelf-stable food items each month and provide more than 80 seniors with much needed toiletries. Our partnership with the NRV Glean Team has enhanced these programs by infusing more than 5,000 pounds of fresh produce into our deliveries to residents like Rebecca, Bridget, Lorraine and Carol.

Cindy Wiley-Lamb is our Service Coordinator and she has developed meaningful relationships with our residents living in Trolinger and New River House Apartments. She helps identify needs and then works with residents like Don to gain access to community services including medical, nutritional and energy assistance. Cindy has been instrumental in helping the Foundation learn more about the true needs of our residents so we can seek funding to better serve them now and in the future. DON
