Danna (Brawer] Canedo and Joseph A. Canedo live in Davidsonville, Md., where they both enjoy successful careers. In 1990, Donna was selected Outstanding Elementary Science Teacher of the Year by the national research fraternity at the Naval Acade– my, Annapolis, and Joseph was appoint– ed assistant special representative to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mari– ana Islands for the 902 Consultations. In 1991, Donna received honorable mention from the Chemistry Industry Council of Maryland. She wrote and received a $1,300 grant from the Chesa– peake Bay Trust to finance a wetland cleanup project with middle-school stu– dents, and has spent the past year con– ducting several workshops for teachers on environmental issues with applica– tions for the classroom. This past spring she was nominated by the Maryland State Board of Education and named by the governor's office to be their selec– tion for the federal EPA's environmen– tal fellowship. She has been granted a year's leave from her Annapolis middle school to accept the fellowship, which will involve her in the Chesapeake Bay Estuary Study of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department. Patricia (Ouirk] Mitchell has marked 25 years as a teacher in the San Diego

Class Correspondent Martha Dowell writes: "To all '61 members: Mary and I want to hear from each and every one of you. Let us know about your families, children, grandchildren, jobs, etc. We want all of us to stay in touch, and we can do that through the Alumni Gallery. We look forward to your letters ASAP!" Margi (Araiza] Martinez writes: "Thanks for the classy class of '61 reunion. It was great to see Mary Jane, Mary, Martha, Sandy, Tippy, Liz, Rafaela, Eli and Rennee at our 30th." Margi is currently employed by the Sweetwater UHS District as a teacher. Sister Ann McGowan, RSCJ, is retiring after 16 years as principal of St. Joseph's School in Atherton, Calif. This fall, she is attending the University of Santa Clara, studying for a master's degree in counseling psychology.
