IWMA’s 2010 AGM and industry lunch well supported with good benefits for charities

The popular 2010 event took place on 3 rd February in the UK. As part of the celebrations for the IWMA’s 40 th anniversary the association’s executive board had decided that all proceeds from the lunch would be given to several charities.

Apart from payments received from member companies for their tables at the lunch the total amount raised was augmented by cash donations collected on the day. As a result £3,200 was raised. The IWMA has made donations to Unicef; Cancer Research (for breast cancer and prostate cancer research specifically); and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Enduring popularity of the IWMA annual dinner dance Stratford-on-Avon in the UK is universally known as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. It was also the “birthplace” of the IWMA’s annual dinner dance, which in those days took place in the same hotel, on the same day as the annual general meeting. This ever-popular social event has evolved over the last thirty-six years, relocating to London and providing members with an opportunity to enjoy a full weekend break in the capital in addition to the dinner dance itself. The 2010 function will take place at the Royal Garden Hotel, High Street Kensington on Friday 26 th November. Members booking and paying early for the weekend can take advantage of a discounted rate. In recognition of the IWMA’s 40 th anniversary this year the Secretariat will be doing its utmost to organise a truly unforgettable evening and it is hoped that members will make every effort to support the event.

Members of the IWMA are advised that the 40 th annual general meeting of the association will take place at 11:00 hours on Wednesday 2 nd February 2011 at the Mere Golf & Country Club, Mere, Cheshire, UK. The AGM will be followed by the IWMA’s popular industry lunch for which member companies can reserve tables. Full details will be issued November 2010. Official notification of the IWMA 40 th AGM
