Unlike welded fittings, the installation of press fittings does not require the use of chemical substances that could be hazardous to human health. Patients in hospitals are often already weakened by illness, so maximum hygiene is required in potable and sanitary water. In this regard, sanitising treatments with chlorine- based substances must be performed periodically on the systems. From a sanitary point of view, AISI 316L stainless steel does not release any substances that could alter the qualities of potable water. The smooth walls of pipes and fittings made with the material do not allow bacteria to grow and proliferate inside the system.
