CORAL GABLES MUSEUM Coral Gables Museum, an institute devoted to the 1920s planned community, opened in 2010 in the historic Old Police and Fire Station structure. The Museum’s mission is to celebrate, investigate and explore the civic arts of architecture and urban and environmental design, including fostering an appreciation for the history, vision, and cultural landscape of Coral Gables, promoting beauty and planning as well as historic and environmental preservation. The museum’s programming includes exhibitions, collections, educational offerings, lectures, tours, publications, and special events.

Saturday, Dec. 4 , from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Coral Gables Museum, mimosas and small bites will be served in celebration of artist Julio Larraz’s first museum retrospective, The Kingdom We Carry Inside . There will be a book signing of Larraz's most recent and comprehensive retrospective book of the same title, published by Rizzoli New York, at 11 a.m. Dec. 1-April 30, 2022 | Julio Larraz: The Kingdom We Carry Inside Curated by Yuneikys Villalonga. Julio Larraz (b. Havana, Cuba, 1944) is currently one of the most influential figures in Latin American art. During a career spanning six decades, Larraz has garnered institutional recognition and plaudits from both colleagues and younger painters from across the world for his masterful harnessing of technique, color and light, along with the poetry and subtlety of his pieces. This exhibition will be Larraz’s first museum retrospective, representing all mediums and key time periods of his life and work, from his early days as a caricaturist for major newspapers and magazines, to later drawings, paintings and sculptures.
