The company is successfully operating in an extremely competitive market and has the ability, through innovative and hands-on management, to perform to the highest level. It prides itself on being transparent in its operations and dealing with the community, public and clients. Through various assisted programmes it actively empowered women and youth groups when it was building the RDP Housing in the area. It further insists on appointing subcontractors as well as emerging subcontractors from the local community. In doing so, the company transfers skills and business acumen Within the Ekhuruleni region the Temi Construction Project in Etwatwa was the only project to deliver the entire 1 317 units allocated by the Department of Human Settlements. Furthermore, the Auditor General found no fault in terms of Temi Construction’s quality of work and output.

to these emerging subcontractors and contractors. Educating these emerging contractors and subcontractors are critical to ensure these contractors and emerging contractors are viable business entities in future. Temi Construction further insists on supporting and buying from local enterprises in the area where it was conducting business. By obtaining and buying material, plant and equipment as required for the contract, it ensures that the community benefit from Temi Construction being contractors in their area. It considers the community where it is working, to be part of the building process and being part of the solution. It is of considerable importance to Temi Construction that the community benefits and prospers while it operates and constructing their new houses. It is proud to be associated with the Department of Human Settlements in building RDP houses for the people. Innovation Due to the nature of RDP housing, the complexity of its housing projects lies not within innovation and design but in quality workmanship and delivery. “As a company we note our contribution to communities as one of our key objectives. We enable socio-economic development through firstly providing adequate housing (e.g. through the Etwatwa Housing Project), we create jobs and appoint subcontractors from local communities to uplift the employment circumstances in the areas we operate in; we take on interns as far as we can accommodate to ensure we are sewing into the future of both the construction industry and our economic wellbeing in general. We have been recognised by the industry for our CSR, receiving the Govan Mbeki Merit Award in 2016 as Best CSR Partner.” Temi Construction’s community liaison officer (CLO) was appointed to keep close contact with community members during the project. “It is one of our primary objectives beyond project completion to improve the lives of the communities in which we build.” 
