5.

USE OF CITY OWNED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 5.1 Use of City information technology, including communications to and from City employees, is presumed to be work-related. City information technology and any data stored in them are the property of the City, and may be accessed at any time by the City. 5.2 At a minimum, employees using information technology at work are expected to: A. Inform themselves of this policy and acceptable uses of information technology. It is the employee’s responsibility to know acceptable uses prior to use.

Use City owned information technology for City business related activities and not for personal business except as noted in section 5.5 below. Privately owned information technology used in the workplace may not be used for any of the unauthorized uses described in this policy.

Comply with the copyright and license of programs and data.

Maintain the integrity of information technology by avoiding the introduction of viruses or nonstandard software which could damage the resources. Do not download files if you do not know the sender and that the purpose is legitimate. Protect others’ privacy. Network communications are not secure and confidential information may easily be forwarded to other unintended recipients.

5.3 Employees should remember that existing and evolving rules, regulations, City policies and procedures, and guidelines on the ethical behavior of government employees and the appropriate use of government resources apply to the use of information technology used in the workplace. 5.4 Unacceptable uses of information technology resources include, but are not limited to: A. Use for any purposes which violate a federal, state or local law, or which violate City administrative policies and procedures including the Prevention of Harassment and Unlawful Discrimination in the Workplace policy. B. Use for any purposes, including for-profit or non-profit activities, not directly related to the mission or duties of the City including:
