Head Golf Professional Local Rules at Horseshoe Bend CC With the new rules that were introduced to golf this year we have decided to adopt (2) new local rules as well. Local Rule F-7 “If a player’s ball lies in or touches a seam of cut turf or a seam interferes with the player’s area of intended swing: (a) Ball in General Area. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b. (b) Ball on Putting Green. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1d. All seams within the area of cut turf are treated as the same seam in taking relief. This means that if a player has interference from any seam after dropping the ball, the player must proceed as required under Rule 14.3c(2) even when the ball is still within one club-length of the reference point. E-5 Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds Purpose . When a provisional ball has not been played, significant issues with pace of play can result for a player needing to take stroke-and-distance relief for a ball that is out of bounds or cannot be found. The purpose of this Local Rule is to allow a Committee to provide an extra relief option that allows a player to play on without returning to the location of the previous stroke. Click HERE for more details. But interference does not exist if the seam only interferes with the player’s stance .
