Coolmore Brochure 2016
A hugely talented racehorse, Rip Van Winkle is the second highest-rated horse by Galileo behind only the great Frankel. At stud he got off to the best possible start with his first two-year-old runners. First came a 1-2 in the Group 3 Grangecon Stud Stakes at the Curragh in June of 2014 followed by Group 1 and Group 2 successes for Dick Whittington in the six-furlong Phoenix Stakes and the Railway Stakes. And during the 2015 season he’s had five new Group/Stakes performers. He sires exceptionally good-looking and good-moving stock so it was no surprise to see his first yearlings sell for up to 400,000 Guineas (to David Redvers) and his second crop realise up to € 350,000 (to Juddmonte Farms) while at Tattersalls last December a colt foal sold to MV Magnier for 320,000 Guineas. already a proven Group 1 sire
