Seven Character Qualities that Earn Authority Most of us, when we pray, focus on concrete physical things. But one of the major areas of prayer emphasis in the Bible is praying f or spiritual growth and character qualities-fruits of the Spirit. Jesus told Peter that he was praying that Peter would have the ability to with­ stand the attack of Satan (Luke 22:31). The Epistles record more than twenty of Paul's prayers for those in his charge. None of them mention any concrete physical request. All are for character traits that bring people into a deeper relationship with God. We need to be pray­ ing those things into our lives and the lives of those we pray for. Here are some biblical qualities to pray into your own life and the lives of others:
