Choosing Locks

CYLINDER LOCKS • Cylinder can easily be replaced without the need to remove the lock case in order to replace a broken lock or to increase the security level • Can be keyed alike or master keyed • Suitable for commercial applications including offices, schools and hospitals • Ranges include Equality Act locks

LEVER LOCKS • Number of levers determines security level, from ‘low security 2 lever’ to ‘high security 5 lever’ • Can be keyed alike • Not susceptible to drilling or picking • Suitable for domestic applications

BRITISH STANDARD LOCKS • These locks are fitted to exterior doors and are tested in order to meet insurance standards • Locks are stamped with a BS kitemark and tested to meet either BS 3621 or BS 8621, keyless egress • These locks are anti-pick and have hardened steel anti-drill plates • The bolt throw is also 20mm from the standard 14mm, with hardened rotating steel pins to prevent sawing

Case Size This is the measurement from the leading edge of the door to the back of the lock case.

1. Reverse the latch bolt without opening the lock case, no more lost springs! To reverse it, simply insert the ‘golf tee’ tool, or similar, into the slot in the lockcase and the latch bolt moves forward allowing you to rotate it. 2. Adjust the latch follower spring to stop door handles sagging by means of the screw on the end of the lock case. 3. Strengthened steel cases designed to withstand a lifetime of use and abuse. The case won’t flex and buckle even when fitted in testing environments such as schools and public buildings. 4. Maintenance free faceplate finishes. 5. The Architechtural Easi-T range is supplied with a simple plastic box that is placed behind the keep when fitting, to protect it from dust and dirt.

Centres This is the measurement between follower and keyhole.

Backset This is the measurement between the forend or edge of the door and the centre of the keyhole and/or follower.
