ANNUAL REPORT Town Manager – Letter of Transmittal
Dear Citizens of the Town of New Gloucester, Chair Ward, Vice-Chair Hathorne, and Select Board members Donovan, Strickler and Bragdon: The Town ended fiscal year 2024 with an Undesignated Fund Balance of $4,575,563 . This was a decrease of $66,656 . The projected use of the fund balance was $595,000 and the unspent amount was $528,344 . During the 2024 fiscal year, the Town turned its focus to the Town Hall complex. The Town Hall, Community Building, Library and Meetinghouse were all re-painted. In addition, the library bell tower was restored. The Select Board appointed an ad hoc committee to analyze the need for an expansion and renovation project for the entire complex and especially the Town Hall. As of July 1, 2023, the charter took full legal effect. The Town continued to implement its long-term paving plan. The Public Works Department encountered serious challenges as a series of storms caused major washouts of roads and bridges throughout the year. I look forward to continue to work with residents, the Select Board, and employees during fiscal year 2025 to continue to make New Gloucester a great place to live, work and play.
