ANNUAL REPORT Planning Department
The Planning Department is responsible for assisting Planning Board applicants work their way through the Planning Board review process. The department provides support to the Planning Board, Land Management Planning Committee, and Economic Development Committee and is responsible for helping the community realize long-term goals associated with growth, land management, and economic development. Planning Board The Planning Board reviewed and approved three Site Plan applications. There are other projects in various stages, but these are the applications that were approved: Site Plan Reviews: • Horton Breezeway (Lower Village/Historic District) • Norumbega Cidery (New Uses in Farm & Forest Zoning District) • DaPointe House (Residential Commercial Zoning District) There were no approved subdivisions. Several subdivision projects were brought to the Planning Board for preliminary review. Subdivisions: • Snow Hill Acres Amendment: Determined that PB approval was not required for division of remaining land due to a plan note on the approved and recorded subdivision plan. • Emery Estates Minor Subdivision: Withdrawn. • Cobble Hill Estates Amendment: Requires MDEP approval for any further lot divisions. • Chance Drive Major Subdivision: In process. While the list of approvals is short, the Planning Board met twelve times during this period. Some projects were started during FY24 and are ongoing into FY25. The Planning Board was also involved in the review of three ordinance revisions in FY 24. They were instrumental in a successful Public Hearing for these ordinance amendments, particularly related to LD 2003 State required amendments for Additional Housing, Affordable Housing, and Accessory Dwelling units.
