Scholarship Awards Dinner

The ZACH BOWYER HONORARY SCHOLARSHIPS recognize students who best demonstrate the qualities of Zach, ‘14: academic achievement, love of the performing arts, humility, love of God and fellow man, a student striving for high ideals with good spirit and optimism. Presented by Zach’s parents, Rick and Teresa Bowyer, the $500 upper school award went to Lauren Frackelton, 9th, and the $500 lower school award went to Aidan Callis, 7th.

KEYSER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP was awarded to Olivia Wharton ‘19 (Virginia Tech). Created in memory of Trey and Tabb Keyser, the $1,000 scholarship goes to a graduating senior who exemplifies kindness, with a demonstrated ability to get along with others, and a strong worth ethic.

The MARIE MONTANO SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to a male and female graduating senior who possess high moral character and high academics in math and science. Son Marty Montano, ‘75, presented the $1,,000 scholarships to Parker Harnack ‘19 (Virginia Tech) and Meagan Gillette ‘19 (University of Virginia).

The ROSE MOORE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS — given in memory of the 1923 graduate of St. Andrew’s School who, as a single mother after her husband died, successfully raised two daughters and put them through RCS — went to Maddie Frackelton, 5th (left), and Alex Bonilla, 8th.

RCS FACULTY‐STAFF SCHOLARSHIPS went to Cameron Dedulonus‐Deeds ’19 (Penn State) and Marissa Stover ‘19 (Roanoke College). Presented by RCS upper school teachers Sara Plante and Paul Begeman.

The ZACHARY BURNS SCHOLARSHIP is presented to a student who best demonstrates the qualities of Zachary, ‘06, who passed away in 2011: academic achievement, humility, love of God and fellow man, a student striving for high ideals and a spirit of determination and optimism. Preference is given to a wrestler or cross‐country runner. Dylan Noell, 11th, received the $500 scholarship from Zachary’s parents, Dave and Donna Burns.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 562’S Leon Vinci (far left) and Grand Knight James Valenzuela presented the $500 Canfield Scholarship to Parker Harnack ‘19 (Virginia Tech) and recognized four graduating student athletes: Steven Clark (Virginia Tech), Olivia Beirne (James Madison University), Olivia Wimbish (University of Virginia) and Alex Vaught (Washington & Lee).
