Stainless steel welding wire Linde Canada Ltd has introduced Linde brand stainless steel welding wire for the Canadian metal fabrication market. The new product is part of a private label program for its industrial products, including welding equipment and consumables. The newproduct is availableCanada-wide in all Linde retail stores and includes stainless steel MIG wire and TIG welding rod, manufactured under an ISO 9001 certification. Both products are offered in three filler metal alloys to cover a broad range of stainless steel joining applications. "Using the stainless steel welding wire with Linde's proprietary MISON ® shielding gases increases their effectiveness and safety. MISON shielding gases reduce the amount of ozone and hexavalent chromium formed during the welding process, while improving the stability of the arc, and reducing clean up time," explained Mike Dunne, Linde’s marketing manager for industrial products, Canada. Testing times for carbon fiber RTE, France’s electricity transmission system operator, is field-testing Nexans’ lightweight and low expansion Lo-Sag conductor technology, featuring a carbon fiber composite core. The trial, in progress in the Limousin region, is the first deployment in Europe of the new overhead power line design. Nexans expect it will “provide TSOs with opportunities to adapt their high- and extra-high voltage networks to meet the needs of tomorrow’s energy landscape for redistribution of power generation,

especially with the development of renewable energy resources.” The field trial involves upgrading around 1km of high-voltage, 90kV overhead line between Bellac and Saint-Martin-Terressus. The three-phase trial installation replaces steel cables while retaining much of the existing infrastructure. Nexans says comprehensive testing of the Lo-Sag technologywill continue throughout the year, with the objective of “checking compatibility with the existing grid as well as reviewing its mechanical properties and the capability to withstand France’s variable climate, including combinations of wind, ice and snow”. Ducab to unveil new rubber cabling Ducab has unveiled a new range of rubber cables to be produced in the company’s new facility in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi. The announcement was made during Ducab’s participation in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) in November 2013. Andrew Shaw, Ducab managing director, stated: “Ducab looks forward to becoming the first manufacturer of rubber cables in the Middle East region, as the company seeks to meet demand for special cabling from the region’s push for industrialization.” Colin McKay, general manager for sales and marketing at Ducab, added: “Ducab’s range of rubber cables are designed to provide exceptional flexibility in terms of usage. Cabling insulated with rubber has the ability to withstand extreme heat, a variety of corrosive chemicals, exposure to oil, extreme acid
