● Learning Intention #3:

○ Students will engage in dialogue regarding American exceptionalism, in the sense of the special character of the United States as a uniquely free nation based on democratic ideals and personal liberty. Students will identify the causes of the first phase of the Industrial Revolution (Market Revolution) in the United States. Students will also learn about the effects of the Market Revolution, particularly the Second Great Awakening and Antebellum (Pre-Civil War) Reform Movements and the increasing sectionalism between the North and South. ● Learning Intention #1: ○ Students will identify the causes of the first phase of the Industrial Revolution (Market Revolution) in the United States. ● Learning Intention #2: ○ Students will learn about the effects of the Market Revolution, particularly the Second Great Awakening and Antebellum (Pre-Civil War) Reform Movements. Students will analyze causes and effects of the American Civil War including slavery, westward expansion, sectionalism, and states rights. Analyze pressures on changing the historical narrative of the causes of the Civil War after the Civil War. ● Learning Intention #1: ○ Students will analyze causes and effects of the American Civil War including slavery, westward expansion, sectionalism, and states rights. ● Learning Intention #2: ○ Students will analyze pressures on changing the historical narrative of the causes of the Civil War after the Civil War. Students will identify and explain the effects of Reconstruction on the South and the loss of civil rights for African Americans in the South after the Reconstruction was over. ● Learning Intention #1: ○ Students will identify and explain the effects of Reconstruction on the South. ● Learning Intention #2: ○ Students will identify and explain the loss of civil rights for African Americans in the South after the Reconstruction was over.
