Meetings of the Council.

Court of Examiners. A report from the Court of Examiners on two applications for leave to be bound under Section 16, was read. The Council granted one, and refused the other.

11th February. Twenty-four Members present. The late Sir George Fottrell, K.C.B.

25th February. Twenty-four Members present. The Late Lady O'Conneli.

The Council passed a resolution expressing their regret at the death of Sir George Fottrell, and their sympathy with Lady Fottrell and members of his family in their bereavement. Land Commission. A letter was read from the Secretary of the Land Commission acknowledging letter on the subject of delays in obtaining consents of the Land Commission to sub-divisions of holdings the subject of land purchase annuities, and stating the matter would receive attention. Adjudication of Stamp Duties. It was resolved that the Inland Revenue authorities be requested to restore the practice of allowing the adjudication of stamp duties to be carried on through the post.

The Council passed a resolution expressing their regret at the death of Lady O'Conneli, and their sympathy with their colleague, Sir John O'Conneli, in his bereavement. Local Government Bill, 1924. The Council considered the amendment made on Report Stage of the Bill in the Senate, striking out of the Bill the clause preserving the existing rights of Solicitors to local authorities under Section 8 of the Local Government (Ireland) Act, 1919, which section is repealed by the Bill. The Council passed a resolution urging the Minister to move in the Dail the re-instate- ment of the clause, and it was decided to send a deputation to the Minister to submit the resolution and reasons in support of it.
