The Certificates of Solicitors whose offices are situate in Northern Ireland, are issued in the office of the Incorporated Law Society of Northern Ireland, 35 Royal Avenue, Belfast, and the duties are payable at the Inland Revenue Office, Belfast. Obituary. MR. DANIEL J. TREACY, Solicitor, died upon the 15th December, 1925, at his .residence, 18 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin. Mr. Treacy was admitted in Trinity Term, 1871, and practised at Mountrath up to 1916, when he retired. MR. PATRICK J. CALLAN, Solicitor, died upon the 21st December, 1925, at his residence, " Oriel," Bridge Street, Dundalk. Mr. Callan served his apprenticeship with Mr. John H. Callan, 23 St. Andrew Street, Dublin; was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1908, and practised at Dundalk. MR. WALTER THORNHILL, Solicitor, died upon the 20th December, 1925, at Ashton House, Cork. Mr. Thornhill was admitted in Michaelmas Term, 1869, and practised at 46 South Mall, Cork, in partnership with Mr. William W. Thornhill, under the style of Walter Thornhill & Son. MR. M. BARRINGTON JELLETT, Solicitor, died upon the 29th December, 1925, at 10 Ely Place, Dublin. Mr. Jellett served his apprenticeship with the late Sir Croker Barrington, Bart., 10 Ely Place, Dublin ; was admitted in Easter Sittings, 1887, and practised at 10 Ely Place, Dublin, in partnership with Mr. Herbert S. McClelland, under the style of Barrington & Son. He was a member of the Council of the Society from 1896 to 1908, and was a Vice- President of the Society during the year 1901-02.

Land Act, 1923. A deputation from the Council, consisting of the President, Mr. MacDermott, and Mr. Fottrell, accompanied by the Secretary, had an interview on 17th December with Mr. Justice Wylie, Mr. Commissioner Hogan, and Mr. Commissioner O'Shiel, together with the Secretary of the Land Commission, at which the. deputation urged that the question of the outstanding compounded arrears of rent should be dealt with so as to permit of an ap– pointed day being fixed for completion of sales in the cases of those estates on which com– pounded arrears are outstanding. The question was very fully discussed, and, at the request of the Land Commissioners, the deputation undertook to send in a memo– randum containing the suggestions of the Counc'l on the matter, and this has since been done. Practice— Costs—Action transferred for hearing to the Circuit Judge—Taxation. This was an action brought by the Plaintiff by writ of summons in the High Court for damages for personal injuries, and injuries to a motor cycle, his property, occasioned by reason of the negligent driving and manage– ment of a motor car at Haddington Road, Legal Decision.
