1 BETTER CALL SAUL: SEASON 1 gets his own series, which is so much more than just a Breaking Bad spin-off – it's every bit as good! THE LEFTOVERS: SEASON 1 Two per cent of the world's population mysteriously vanish in one of the best HBO dramas you've probably never heard of. Bleak, enigmatic and thought-provoking. Matthew Weiner's fantastic retro series wraps up in fine style, with satisfying yet ambiguous closure for its major players – and that includes love rat Don Draper (Jon Hamm). 4 HOMELAND: SEASON 4 Season Four proved that Homeland didn't really need Nicholas Brody to continue, and is now even better without him. Although Carrie (Claire Danes) is still off her rocker. 5 GAME OFTHRONES: SEASON 4 How do they top the Red Wedding? With a Purple one. Even more major characters bite the dust in the HBO phenomenon's fourth year. And there's more dragons, too. Walter White's lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) 2 3 MAD MEN: SEASON 7, PART 2 7 DOCTORWHO: SERIES 9, PART 1 Peter Capaldi's second year as TV's Time Lord has a greater sense of adventure, as well as a cracking Dalek story and GoT 's Maisie Williams as an intriguing new player. 8 FORTITUDE: SEASON 1 Nordic noir meets Fargo and The X-Files in this chilly mystery series set in the eponymous Arctic community. Gets progressively weirder as town secrets are defrosted. 9 EMPIRE: SEASON 1 Terence Howard headlines as a terminally ill record company mogul in the sleeper series of 2015. All the wealthy family dysfunction of Dynasty and Dallas, but with hip hop. 10 ORANGE ISTHE NEW BLACK: SEASON 2 The addictive jailbird series returned with conviction, humour and heart, as well as (figuratively) beefing up some of the supporting characters. 6 THE JINX Creepy and utterly compelling documentary series on suspected serial killer Robert Durst, who was arrested for first degree murder before the finale was broadcast. Must-see TV.
