FRESH FROZEN SPECIMENS A selection of fresh frozen biological specimens, suitable for dissection purposes in biology. These specimens are frozen immediately after removal, ensuring they are still fresh when frozen. Specimens may arrive partially defrosted, this will not affect their use in dissection and they can be re-frozen. Carefully selected and removed by skilled butchers to ensure appropriate structures remain intact These products are not farmed for this use. We source from a local, award winning, butcher with their own abatoir and these items are a surplus by-product. The fish heads are supplied by a local fishmongers and will be salmon or cod. ODOURLESS PRESERVING FLUID Propylene phenoxetol used as 1% aqueous solution for the preservation of animal specimens. A 1% solution is easily prepared by dissolving in hot water whilst stirring and then cooling for use. This is not a fixative and usually samples should be prefixed in Formalin before immersion in Propylene Phenoxetol. Aqueous solutions of Propylene Phenoxetol are colourless, practically odourless and non-volatile. Colour retention of specimens is good and tissues remain soft and suitable for dissection.
