Security

Multi-Factor Authentication We use a variety of tools to protect your account against fraud, including security questions for logging in and secure tokens. Secure tokens are small electronic devices that provide an extra level of assurance to the user by requiring two- factor authentication. The owner of the device uses a PIN number which authorizes them as the owner; the device then displays a unique number, identifying the user to the device. ID numbers for each user are changed regularly for additional security. Phishing Phishing is an online scam tactic that lures users into providing personal data by posing as a legitimate, trustworthy company. By using realistic-looking websites and emails, phishers gain the trust of their victims for malicious purposes. Murphy Bank will never send unsolicited emails that ask you to provide, update or verify personal or confidential information. If you receive an alleged email inquiry from Murphy Bank, report the incident to a customer service representative. Malware Malware includes viruses and spyware designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system. This intrusive software can steal personal information to commit fraud. To safeguard against malware, do not open links or files from

unsolicited sources. Identity Theft

Identity theft can occur when criminals find a way to steal your personal or other identifying information and assume the use of that data to access your personal accounts, open new accounts, apply for credit, purchase merchandise and commit other crimes using your identity. It is important to be aware of the dangers of identity theft so that you can take the steps to avoid becoming a victim.
