Reliance Donates Computer Lab to Workshops for Warriors

Reliance support for Workshops for Warriors and our veterans continues!

of investment in training such a workforce. Workshops for Warriors not only teaches and trains, but they also provide full support for their students and then source jobs so that graduates transition to satisfying careers and successful civilian lives. They’re working on qualifying for federal funding through the GI Bill, which will allow them to build new training facilities and expand nationally, but that’s a few years off. In the meantime, Workshops for Warriors relies solely on donors for its day- to-day operations, while the list of veterans in line for training has soared to 550+. Reliance believes in this cause and is a proud supporter, both for our country and for our industry.

Reliance’s most recent donation to Workshops for Warriors helped to build the Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. Advanced Manufacturing Training Classroom. This 18-station computer lab was completed in early 2015 and has tripled the number of students that Workshops for Warriors can now train in CAD/CAM computer skills. A Reliance team representing several of our Family of Companies toured the Workshops for Warriors facility in San Diego last April. Houston FOC’s Walk for Life Continental Alloys & Services in Spring, TX led the charge to raise $1,000 for the American Cancer Society at the Relay for Life on May 2, 2015. TEAM STEEL was made up of not just Continental employees, but two participants from Reliance corporate and one from Metals USA – who made the three-hour drive from Dallas to take part. And just as we aim to do in our daily operations, TEAM STEEL not only met but exceeded its goal, raising over $4,700! CONGRATULATIONS and thanks to the organizers, participants, and donors for making this a great event for our Family of Companies!

As a national corporate sponsor of the American Red Cross’ Service to the Armed Forces (http://www.redcross.org/what-we-do/support- military-families) program, Reliance invites veterans across our Family of Companies to participate in the Veterans History Project (www.loc.gov/ vets) through your local ARC chapter. Your story will be saved and shared not only with your Reliance family, but it will be permanently archived at the Library of Congress’ American Folklife Center in Washington, D.C. Your personal perspective is important so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. We salute you and honor your service to our country!
