MINORITY SHAREHOLDERS S. 205 of the Companies Act 1963 gives minority share- holders a right to apply to the High Court if the affairs of the company are being conducted or the powers of the directors are being exercised oppressively or in disregard of their interests as members of the company. There appears to have been little or no liti- gation on this section. Members who have had personal

experience of circumstances involving serious use of this section are asked to let John Temple Lang of 51 Fitz- william Square, Dublin, know if in their opinion this is due to the cost of litigation or the uncertainty of the outcome in such circumstances, or to the fact that the wording of the section facilitated a satisfactory settle- ment.
