In keeping with the district’s ongoing efforts to provide more wrap‐around services and social and emoƟonal supports for students and their families, this September the Taunton Public Schools was pleased to celebrate the grand opening of a districtwide Family Welcome Center (FWC) located at John F. Parker Middle School. The FWC funcƟons as a resource and registraƟon center for all district families with students in grades Pre‐K through 12. The FWC is a centrally‐ located “one stop shop” where students can be registered for school year‐round, Individualized EducaƟon Programs (IEPs) can be evaluated to determine appropriate placements, and on site language assessments can be administered. In addiƟon, four TPS Community Facilitators are housed at the same locaƟon, ensuring access to translaƟon services and support staff when fami‐ lies arrive to register their children for school. TPS Starts the New School Year Looking Sharp! Before students returned to classrooms this September, the Taunton Public Schools completed a number of major faciliƟes projects that have leŌ our schools looking beƩer than ever! Improvements include: Significant safety upgrades were implemented at the Edward F. Leddy Preschool . Through the support of a dedicated team from the DPW and a City/Schools partnership, we were able to create beƩer traffic flow and a safer environment for our youngest students. The Joseph H. MarƟn Middle School gymnasium floor has been beauƟfully refinished, the walls have been painted, and we have new bleachers. The auditorium, with its new seaƟng, also looks great. The 1970s‐era orange and yellow sound blocks on the walls of Taunton High School’s Joseph A. Rabouin Auditorium were repainted in tasteful, muted tones and the sound and light systems were upgraded. In the THS Cafeteria, brand‐new chairs and tables re‐create the feel of a college campus!
