sliding, significantly boosting the surface capabilities of standard polymers. Low-friction surfaces have already been applied to polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, silicones and fluoropolymers using this process. Hoowaki’s surfaces can also be used to increase extruder productivity, and to reduce drag between the die surface and the polymer without changing the process parameters. The surfaces allow polymers to flow smoothly.

Halogen free CV- and irradiation crosslinkable compounds have been introduced for IRM 902/ASTM #2 oil resistant cables for applications at elevated temperatures, and a new halogenated, irradiation crosslinkable compound for 90C cables, applied in dry or wet conditions for 600V power and control cables, is designed to meet UL, RHH, RHW, RHW-2, SIS, USE, USE-2, XHHW and XHHW-2.

braiding to produce superior strength and durability in a lightweight structure. For the global wire and cable industry, Keir’s products include high-purity 99.8% alumina ceramic guides, the Frontiersman™ line of air wipes, and composite flyer bows including the BackBone™ bow. LaserLinc LaserLinc’s non-contact laser and ultrasonic systems measure OD, ID, wall, eccentricity, and concentricity for the wire, cable, and fiber industries. High-speed three-axis laser gauging for ovality and flaw detection, plus features such as FFT and SRL prediction, help reduce scrap, increase production efficiency, and improve quality. The UltraGauge+™ ultrasonic wall thickness measurement system uses hardened stainless steel fixtures, designed to withstand harsh wire and cable manufacturing environments, and UltraLock™ auto setup provides automatic configuration.

Gotex SA has been serving the worldwide cable industry with custom fiber solutions since 1947. From its European manufacturing facility the company supplies flexible strength members, central strength elements, binder yarns, ripcords, water blocking yarns, woven glass tapes (for protection against rodents), aramid woven tapes (for ballistic protection of ADSS cables) and mica tapes for fire protection. Hoowaki LLC Extrusion dies from Hoowaki LLC use micro- structured surfaces to lower friction on wire and cable polymer jackets, so providing easier installation. Standard extrusion dies are modified with the low friction surface and the micro-features then transfer to the product during the normal extrusion process, requiring few or no adjustments to the process and no adjustments to the material. Hoowaki’s technique requires minimal modification to existing manufacturing processes, without introducing any new materials, and is cost-effective for high volume production. Hoowaki custom designs the micro-features according to material and application. The company’s design process takes material shrinkage and drawdown into account to provide features that give the optimal geometry on the final product. The company has demonstrated up to 20% reduction in dry sliding, and up to 80% reduction in lubricated

Inhol BV also offers a hot set test oven, for fast measurement of hot-creep according to EN 60811-2-1, and complete production lines and compounds for the heat-shrinkable products industry. Keir Manufacturing, Inc Keir Manufacturing, Inc is a US-based manufacturer of engineered technical ceramic and composite products serving a variety of industries. Since its inception in 1983, Keir has developed proprietary forming and machining methods for production of a wide variety of parts. In March 2010, Keir acquired Kamatics Wire Products (including all assets and intellectual property), relocating all Wire Products production to the Keir facility and headquarters in North Carolina, USA. Kamatics designed, produced, and developed composite flyer bows for over twenty years, combining aerospace proven materials with triaxial

Inhol BV The Inhol range of compounds serves many industry sectors. For the solar industry, Inhol offers proven compounds to meet the European standard TUV 2Pfg 1169. These compounds can be crosslinked by electron beam (RDX 2125-PV-solar-UV) and the duo system, with an insulation compound and a jacketing compound, can be cured in CV lines (PX 21169-1 and PX 21169-2). PTL mud resistant compound RDX 20606 was developed to perform in the harshest off-shore environments, designed to withstand drilling fluid muds and to meet the requirements of NEK 606, IEC 61892-4 and IEC 60092-359 SHF2.

Gauges operate via PC-based Total Vu™ software. Total Vu provides a complete audit trail of the process, including flaw reporting, SPC charts, and Excel-based user-designed reports, and offers real-time analysis, with
