Fiber optic network throughout Angola

The executive director of the technical department of Angola Telecom, Alvaro Brito Alves, has revealed that Angola Telecom has covered the entire country with its fiber optic network. Speaking to the press after a meeting with the Secretary of State for Science and Technology, João Sebastião Teta, Alvaro Brito Alves said the fiber optic network covers the major cities and some municipalities, an area of 10,000 kilometers. He explained that infrastructure and road construction, and damage caused to cables by rodents, are the chief causes of the daily cuts, adding that these factors cause additional costs in maintenance, reconstruction and transporting technicians from Luanda to other provinces.
