Plans for Pennsylvania wind farm

Genuine Parts Company’s electrical group EIS Inc has acquired the stock of Cobra Wire & Cable, Inc. from Merit Capital Partners and Fulton Capital. Cobra, headquartered in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, is a specialist wire and cable distributor serving the telecom, battery and uninterruptible power supply and marine markets. Its customers are served from three distribution facilities in Philadelphia, Dallas and Seattle. EIS acquires Cobra

Duke Energy Renewables will build, own and operate a 69MW wind energy project in north-central Pennsylvania. The Laurel Hill Windpower Project in Lycoming County will include 30 Siemens turbines, each with a generating capacity of 2.3MW. Construction of the wind farm has already begun. The facility is expected to begin commercial operation by September 2012 and the electricity generated by the project will be sold to

Delaware Municipal Electric Corp under a 25-year agreement. The Laurel Hill Windpower Project will produce enough electricity to power over 20,000 homes.The power project is Duke Energy Renewables’ second wind farm in Pennsylvania; the company already owns and operates the 70MW North Allegheny Windpower Project in Blair and Cambria counties.

EIS anticipates the acquired business will generate annual revenues of approximately $43 million. Thomas C Gallagher, chairman, president and CEO of Genuine Parts Company, applauded the acquisition saying: “Bob Thomas, president and CEO of EIS, and his management team continue to grow their specialty wire and cable business into targeted adjacent markets.
