SMPR® for GOS: Do we need a revision?

• When we set the SMPR it was with the spirit that it was a desirable target, and with the mindset that it was challenging and may not be met. • However, it seems that all SMPRs have not been set with the same mindset and it may not be the interpretation of the ERP. • So far, we have received proposals from only 2 labs – why? o No other labs have solutions? o No other labs are interested? o The SMPR is too difficult to achieve? o Labs with solutions don’t want to share their technology? o Labs with solutions don’t want to run an MLT? o Labs with solutions don’t know about the call for methods? • At the moment, we run the risk of finishing the SPIFAN project without a suitable method for GOS analysis in products containing lactose. What are our options? o No compromise, leave the SMPR, spread the word to see if we get more proposals, and wait. o Adapt the SMPR to see if it would attract additional proposals (and let the ERP re-assess those that have already been submitted against the revised SMPR)
