Mary Ann Garrigan . has been an educator responsible for the development of multiple generations of nurses who carry into their practice her compassionate sensitivity to the human spirit. When considering the prodigious achievements of Mary Ann Garrigan, through a long and noteworthy ca:eer in practice, as teacher and counselor to students, as archivist and historian, the University of San Diego has right, and just reason to pause amidst these august deliberations, publishing and proclaiming before the world that she be awarded the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa.
