Nursing School Is Under Way

Work is under way on R the Phl11p Y. Hahn School of Nursing on the Alcala Park campus of the University of San Diego. The two-story, 18,000- square-foot building will ac– commodate about 60 stu– dents when It is completed in mid 1978. San Diego architect Hal Sadler or Tucker, Sadler and Associates designed the building which will feature

the Spanish enaissance ar– chitecture of buildings on the campus. The ground floor will have a large multipurpose room, two classrooms and four seminar rooms; plus a room divided into individu– al learning stations with audio-visual equipment. The second floor will hold the administration· offices,

conference rooms, a lounge and open-air patio. Dr. Irene Palmer, dean of the School of Nursing, said there will be instrnctional and administrative facili– ties for the undergraduate and graduate-degree pro– grams and for the Contin– ued Education program. The $1.44 million school is being financed with federal funds of over $1 million from the Department of

Health, Education and Wel– fare. The school is named. for the deceased industrialist– philanthropist, Philip Y. . Hahn• Extensive landscaping is planned for the site and the second-floor patio. Kawasaki and Theilacker is the landscape firm and the general contractor is Wylie Construction Co.
